DMX over Ethernet

DMX is the standard Communication Protocol in the lighting Industry. The complete zactrack product range supports DMX over Ethernet. The mini system also has a normal DMX Output for one single universe.

One of the main DMX over Ethernet protocols in a Class A network.

See Art-Net for more information.

Also a very important DMX over Ethernet protocol with the advantage of priorities. It is the simplest way to integrate zactrack with a lighting network.

See sACN for more information.

Warning

If a PRO system is using sACN Multicast, the Querier IP needs to be in the same subnet in the network. Just add a second IP to the interface. See network settings.

The control of the zactrack system works directly over DMX. The whole control of a zactrack system is over your own lighting desk. It is possible to change assignments, settings and much more live via the lighting console. The decision which fixture follows an Actor is done in the lighting cue. All Files are available at the GDTF Share Website.

Tip

See also the Channel set PDF on our Homepage Link

To use a Light Fixture in the zactrack system, its necessary to add additional control channels one each fixture. It is possible to do this on a different patch break, so the whole house patch can stay as it is. There are different ways to add the channels (Sub Fixture, Child, manual, grouping).

Channelset zactrack Fixture

  1. Tracker Assignment

    Choose Tracker for following

  2. Crossfade

Crossfade Data from Console position to tracking position.

  3. Transition Time

    Fixture Transition Time between assignments

  4. X-Offset

Positive and negative offset in X Axis in absolute Meters

  5. Y-Offset

Positive and negative offset in Y Axis in absolute Meters

  6. Z-Offset

Positive and negative offset in Z Axis in absolute Meters

  7. Fixture Mode

    Different Modes available

Fixture Mode

  • Auto 2

In this mode, zactrack is only allowed to change PAN and Tilt of the Fixture.

  • Auto 6

In this mode, zactrack controls PAN, TILT, IRIS, ZOOM, FOCUS and DIMMER.

  • Auto 6M

In this mode, zactrack also controls PAN, TILT, IRIS, ZOOM, FOCUS and DIMMER merged with the console Data. (except PAN & TILT)

  • Tablet

For manual control via the tablet application.

zactrack uses a Multiplying Merge Strategy. It is completely different to the HTP or LTP known merge modes.

So in every case the console can affect the output level.

A Tracking system is not able to know which light behaviour is expected. To be able to change settings live it is necessary to have Actor control settings. It is possible to change the settings directly via the lighting console.

Channelset zactrack Actor

  1. Height

In 2D the height is the target point in the 3rd dimension. In 3D it is an offset of the tracked position.

  2. Speed Preset

These 3 different modes change the movement behaviour of the system.

  3. Smart Beam

Due to the control of ZOOM and IRIS in the Auto 6M Mode, zactrack can hold the Beam size constant. As long as the fixture can handle it.

  4. Freeze Filter

The Freeze is a really important system setting. It filters out small movements. With a Freeze Position the light will stay on the same spot.

  5. Tracker Mode

    Different Modes available

  • Active 3D Tracker

  • Active 2D Tracker

  • Inactive Tracker

With these channels a change in the Scene and Terrain Selection is possible.
